OCTOBER 2024: Nike Melbourne Marathon

Monday, 7th October 2024:

User 1 is prepping for the Half Marathon at Nike Melbourne Marathon this week. Today’s schedule includes a 30 minute recovery run as we descend into full taper in preparation for a big push this Sunday. The city is starting to buzz with Melbourne’s various run clubs and communities entering full event swing.

Tuesday, 8th October 2024:

Race week continues!

Today is a rest day for User 1 and she is taking it slow, as today also serves as a day in-memoriam.

Lot’s happening around town though.

  • The Nike Melbourne Marathon Race Week Festival commences this Thursday from 8:00am - 6:00pm.

    • Athletes can collect their bibs and make direct enquiries

    • Merch stands are usually available from Thursday onward - with the full breadth of Nike MM 2024 Merch on sale which usually has a wider offering than the initial online release and also enables you to quickly try items on at the stall. If you need to try stuff on, I suggest going in off-peak times as it can get chaotic. They also sell out so if you’re keen to choose from the full range, get in early.

    • Steigen socks usually commence from Thursday as well - unconfirmed for 2024, but I’ll update this on Thursday with info on who has come out. They often have a sale bin where they’re selling old stock at 1/2 price. This will likely deplete by the weekend, so again, try get down if you’re a fan.

  • Rumour has it that On Running are opening their flagship Australian store in Melbourne - watch this space as more information comes in and details are either confirmed or “adjusted”.

  • Up There Athletics continues to import niche products for the running community’s consumption - with Mental Athletic mags now available at UTA for $60 an issue.
